Formula SAE is a design competition that takes place every year. As the Controls, Brakes, and Safety lead of the team from 2021-2022, I was in charge of overseeing the design, validation, and manufacturing for the subsystem. The main areas of the subsystem include the pedal tray, steering rack and column, and the braking system.

Project Goals and Process

Formula Student is an international design competition that allows university teams to design, and build a half-scale F1 style vehicle. This overarching task is broken up by the team into different sub-systems. As the lead for the Controls, Brakes, and Safety sub-system, my team oversaw the driver's comfort, safety, and ability to control the vehicle.

Pedal Tray CAD and Final Design

My Role

As the subsystem lead for Controls, Brakes, and Safety (CBS), I acted as the primary overseer of all designs pertaining to the pedal tray, braking system, steering system, and other driver interfaces. I primarily oversaw the design of the components, and led the manufacturing of said parts. All documentation and testing were overseen by myself, and I was one of two individuals in the subsystem to present our designs to the judges at the SAE International event at Michigan International Speedway.
